Urgent Care
Severe pain, a knocked-out tooth, swelling, or a broken crown — call us first. We make every effort to see emergency patients the same day.
A dental emergency is anything that needs prompt attention to relieve pain, save a tooth, or stop bleeding. The most common emergencies we treat are severe toothaches (often from advanced decay or infection), broken or knocked-out teeth, lost fillings or crowns, and abscesses.
If you're in pain, call the office during business hours and we'll do our best to bring you in the same day. For after-hours emergencies, our voicemail provides instructions.
When a tooth cannot be saved, we coordinate extractions and discuss sedation options for anxious patients. See our tooth extractions and sedation dentistry pages for what to expect before your visit.

Severe tooth pain, knocked-out or broken teeth, lost fillings or crowns causing pain, swelling in the face or gums, and uncontrolled bleeding all count as dental emergencies and should be addressed within 24 hours.
Pick up the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently in milk or saline, and try to place it back in the socket if possible. Otherwise, store it in milk and get to a dentist within 30–60 minutes for the best chance of saving it.
Yes. Hedgewood Dental reserves time each day for emergency patients. Call us as early in the day as possible to maximize the chance of a same-day appointment.
When a tooth cannot be saved, careful extraction and a clear replacement plan protect your smile and long-term oral health.
Learn moreDental anxiety is common — sedation options help you complete extractions, implant planning, and longer appointments with less stress.
Learn moreWhen the pulp inside a tooth becomes infected, a root canal removes the infection, relieves pain, and saves the tooth from extraction.
